Peanut butter banana oatmeal smoothie is packed with protein and nutrients. It's perfect for a everyday breakfast or a quick midday snack.
I love peanut butter and can find any excuse to add it to anything and this oatmeal banana smoothie is the perfect excuse! The combination of banana and peanut butter is a classic and everyone loves it. Sweet, salty and creamy with a dash of cinnamon, this smoothie has everything I love! On days that I'm not drinking my warm honey lemon tea or milk tea, this smoothie is what I love to have and I can't wait to share it with you.
Why this recipe works
Aside from being such a classic combination, there are other reasons that I consider this peanut butter banana oatmeal smoothie one of our favorites:
- It's naturally sweetened and doesn't need any additional sweetener.
- This is a healthy and nutritious breakfast thanks to the healthy protein and fat in the peanut butter.
- You can make it in less than two minutes, quick and convenient for those busy mornings!
- You can easily double or triple this recipe for your whole family.
What kind of oatmeal to use
I have used both old fashioned and quick oatmeal and both work just as well for this recipe so I won't insist on a particular type. I'd say stay away from steel cut oatmeal because they can't be served uncooked. So if you have a large bag of old fashioned or quick oatmeal in your pantry, you can use it to make this easy oatmeal smoothie.
The secret to a creamy oatmeal smoothie
It's so simple! Frozen bananas! When your bananas are ripened and you don't know what to do with them, just freeze them for smoothies. Frozen bananas add so much creaminess to the smoothies without changing the flavor. I always keep a bag of ripened frozen bananas in the freezer to make sure I can have creamy smoothies at any time.
Can I make this ahead of time?
It's best to make this peanut butter banana oatmeal smoothie fresh because that's when it tastes best. When kept in the fridge for a few hours, the banana will lose its taste and the smoothie becomes a bit watery and won't have that nice and fresh creamy texture. It only takes 2 minutes to make so it's best to make it fresh.
Can I use other types of milk?
I used almond to make this oatmeal smoothie but you can also use soy milk, cashew milk or dairy milk (whole, 2% or 1%) as well.
