The ingredients
Non dairy milk
I usually use almond milk to make this recipe. However, you can also use cashew milk, oat milk or coconut milk to make dairy free hot chocolate.
Chocolate chips
Check out the list of the ingredients on the chocolate chips package to make sure you're getting dairy free or vegan chocolate chips. Here is a complete guide to dairy free chocolate chips with names of a few brands you can find at your local supermarket.
Sweetener
You can use different types of sweeteners including granulated sugar, coconut sugar, brown sugar, stevia, maple syrup or monk fruit sweetener to make this recipe. Here I have used regular granulated sugar.
Cocoa powder
My favorite ingredient to use when making hot chocolate! I love the little amount of bitterness it adds to the drink. Cocoa powder also gives a nice texture to the hot chocolate.
